Genre-defying artist, producer and songwriter guccihighwaters has shared the official video for “Dancing With The Stars” from his debut EP, Heartbreak Highway. Filmed in New York, the glitch-out visual finds the artist exploring one night across the city. The “Dancing With The Stars” video is now streaming on the official guccihighwaters YouTube channel.
Last month, guccihighwaters shared the six-track Heartbreak Highway EP and released an official music video for an intimate piano ballad, “believe.” Heartbreak Highway is available now through Public Consumption in partnership with Elektra Music Group HERE. The artist has also concluded North American tour dates supporting Nothing, Nowhere., and will hit the road again in the UK and Europe with Nothing, Nowhere. this autumn. At the end of 2021, guccihighwaters lands in a Los Angeles studio with producer Courtney Ballard [Waterparks]. It absorbed the spirit of diverse inspirations, ranging from Lionel Richie’s “Dancing on the Ceiling” and the Drive Original film soundtrack to The Weeknd. “Courtney played a bunch of 80s beats for me,” guccihighwaters recalled. “I was into a lot of synth revival music, so it was cool to hear where that came from. I took the synths and the drum grooves and transformed my style to be adapted to those elements. It was natural.”
guccihighwaters announced its signing with Public Consumption in April alongside the release of “crash my car” and “devil on my shoulder”. Earlier this month, he officially announced the Heartbreak Highway EP and unveiled synthesized single “The Chase” alongside an official music video. Signifying a new era in guccihighwaters’ ever-evolving sound, the early releases of the EP garnered immediate acclaim from Alt Press, Consequence, Those To Watch, and more.
Heartbreak Highway follows guccihighwaters’ 2021 album joke about you. Achieving great success, KERRANG! promised, “Whatever genre you name the tracks to, guccihighwaters music is no joke when it comes to conveying emotion in its rawest form.” Alt Press hailed “the consummate artist on the verge of stardom”, while Ones To Watch proclaimed, “vocalist/producer Morgan Murphy’s sounds are as raw as they come”.
Billboard applauded the standout single “rock bottom” [feat. nothing,nowhere.] as “the highlight of guccihighwaters’ joke’s on you album”, and NME hailed the track as “an introspective blend of alt-rock and dark hip-hop – a marked progression from the emo scene online “.
