Vince Vanmieghem, a recent graduate of Green Bay Southwest High School, competed in the 800, 1600 and 4X400-meter relay competitions last spring in the Wisconsin Interschool Athletic Association’s Regional Division 1.
The Trojans track and field team finished with 34 points to place seventh in the competition.
Vanmieghem said he would rather run in extreme heat than in cold arctic temperatures and that he would like to be Elon Musk for a day.
How difficult is athletics?
“It’s an individual sport, so you can push yourself as hard as you want. If you’re pushing yourself, it’s a tough mental game to keep a beat or go faster.
Which teammate would you like to be trapped with on a desert island?
“Torrez steel. He’s built and likes to build fires, so we could do quite a duet.
Talk about your family.
“My family has always been there. My mom and dad have always encouraged me, and my siblings have led by example. These external factors mean everything to me.
What’s your most embarrassing track moment?
“It’s not too embarrassing, but my freshman, a group of seniors, and I wore Naruto headbands every race.”
What’s the best advice someone has given you?
“My father always repeated: ‘Will to go forward, courage to endure’. “
What’s the hardest part in a competition?
” Nerves. Running can be unpredictable. You have to believe that you will do well.
What’s your favorite phone app?
How is a day going in your world?
“I usually wake up, have breakfast, run, do my homework, then fish or do some other outdoor activity with friends. I lead a fairly simple life.
What most people don’t know about you
“I’m pretty good at pickleball – it’s an underrated sport.
What are your college aspirations?
“I’m going to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to pursue civil engineering studies. “
Canada or the Caribbean for the holidays?
What are your hobbies?
“I love to hunt and fish with my dad. Also, I like to play disc golf with my friends and sit inside and play Xbox.

“Outgoing, hardworking, caring. “
What is your favorite musical genre?
“I listen to many genres, but I mostly listen to hip hop / rap. “
If you could listen to any song before a date, what would it be?
“’Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor. “

“The 800-meter race. “

“The diverse atmosphere, the attentive staff and the athletic program (weight room).”
