Tom Morello continues to work on new music, now revealing that another Atlas underground the album will arrive before the end of the year. And like its predecessor, this one is full of special guests. In fact, Morello presents three new tracks with guests such as alternative rockers Barns Courtney, Ben Harper, Nathaniel Rateliff and rappers Jim Jones and Chipotle Joe.
The Atlas underground flood follows the recent release The Atlas underground fire and he’s now on track to arrive on December 3rd via Mom + Pop. The guest list is long with Rush’s Alex Lifeson, Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, Idles, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Manchester Orchestra, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, X Ambassadors and many more ready to rock alongside Morello.
One of the three new tracks released today (November 17th) is “Human”, with Barns Courtney. With a catchy rhythm and nodding his head, the singer confirms that he gives in to more animal instincts. Listen and check out the lyrics below:

Tom Morello with Barns Courtney, lyrics to “Human”
Oh my god i’m an animal
Oh my god I’m gonna have it all
I lose, I lose my way to the humanHands up chef
Get the bit in your teeth
Or they’ll never remember your nameWe fight fire with fire
Would you call me a liar
If I told you that I was not afraidSoft as sweat
Do you still feel it
Yeah, long as your family reignsBetter shake those hips
If there is death on your lips
Or you’ll never dance againCannibalism
Modern religion
We drive a ticket to nowhere
And carry the vision
I do what I do to surviveoh my God
I am an animal
oh my God
I will have it allI lose
I lose
My way home
to the humanoh my God
I am an animal
Swear to God
This is my reminderI lose
I lose
My way home
to the humanBlood for blood
If you are ready or not
Put your finger on the killing machineAnd if faith is blind
In the eyes of your enemy
So man you better make them believeAnd cannibalism
Modern religion
We drive a ticket to nowhere
And carry the vision
I do what I do to surviveoh my God
I am an animal
oh my God
I will have it allI lose
I lose
My way home
to the humanoh my God
I am an animal
Swear to God
This is my reminderI lose
I lose
My way home
to the humanoh my God
I am an animal
oh my God
I will have it allI lose
I lose
My way home
to the humanoh my God
I am an animal
Swear to God
This is my reminderI lose
I lose
My way home
to the human
The second new track, “Raising Hell,” is a darker offering, pairing Morello with singer-songwriter Ben Harper for a more powerful guitar piece that eventually gains momentum with a steady rhythm added after the first verse. Check out the visualizer video and lyrics below.
Tom Morello with Ben Harper, “Raising Hell”
Tom Morello with Ben Harper, lyrics to “Raising Hell”
Summer is over and winter is gone
Sabbath blastin ‘in the headphones
I played them all and woke up to a songWell i fell in love with a drunk friend
At a South By Show with REM
Staggered on the road in last night’s clothes
But I had to see the rainbow for myself
And I had to put platinum on my shelfAnd it’s 1, 2, 3, 4
A rusty chain holds me to the shore
5, 6, 7, 8
The sunset floods when the sea wall breaks over me
Oh, on me, on me, oh, on me
Oh well, I’m still raising hellWell I squeeze my faith in Marshall stacks
Feedback, Fender, skinny pants
All over the world, alongside The BossAnd the hornet is buzzing in my head
Like fascists in government
Powers change but we always pay the priceAnd the road is still paved with shooting stars
And the time is right, decide who you areAnd it’s 1, 2, 3, 4
A rusty chain holds me to the shore
5, 6, 7, 8
The sunset floods when the sea wall breaks over me
Oh, on me, on me, oh, on me
Oh well, I’m still raising hellAnd it’s 1, 2, 3, 4
A rusty chain holds me to the shore
5, 6, 7, 8
Sunset floods when the dike breaks
On me oh, on me, oh on me
Oh well, I’m still raising hellOh me
Oh well, I’m still raising hell
And the newly released third song, “Hard Times”, is perhaps the band’s most vibrant, opening up to Morello’s screaming guitar and a funky beat that keeps the song moving. Alternative rock hero Nathaniel Rateliff joins rappers Jim Jones and Chipotle Joe on the track. Get a listen to the song in the player below.

As for the new set, which follows The Atlas underground fire, it was primarily born out of the many collaborations and songwriting sessions the guitarist participated in during the pandemic lockdown in 2020.
“The Atlas underground flood end what The Atlas underground fire started, “says Morello.”Fire and Flood are my London call. Admiring The Clash at their peak, I sought to make a double album where artistic intention supplants the genre. My goal was to forge an organized central vision to link an intrepid, wild and far-reaching musical musical ambition with a formidable group of collaborators. And of course there are a lot of guitar solos.
As indicated, The Atlas underground flood is due out on December 3 via Mom + Pop Music. Pre-orders are currently available here, and you can check out the artwork and full track list below.
